Our Services
Since 1990, we have worked on a wide range of projects including energy audits, studies and investigations, renovations, repairs, additions/alterations, and new construction. Peterson also offers commissioning services, underground utility location, flow testing, monitoring, air barrier testing, and infrared thermography testing using our own state-of-the-art equipment.

Our combination of formally trained personnel with wide base of experience and the latest in technology such as state-of-the-art ground penetrating radar equipment, computers, REVIT, CAD systems, and software, give us the technical competence to provide services for a vast range of projects.

Meet the Team
Mr. Gregory D. Peterson is the president and owner of Peterson Engineering. Prior to forming Peterson Engineering, Inc., Mr. Peterson was the President of Energy Engineers, Inc., providing energy auditing, sales, and installation of energy management controls to optimize energy use over the entire life-cycle for clients. He has served on the Florida Engineering Society's State Energy Committee and the local ASHRAE Energy Committee, and is a certified Florida State Energy Auditor.
Mr. Elijah Kimmig is a licensed Professional Engineer specializing in fire protection engineering for DoD, commercial, industrial, and educational facilities. He meets DoD criteria for a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE). His expertise spans life safety code analysis, fire alarm and mass notification systems, wet pipe, dry pipe, preaction, and deluge sprinkler systems, foam suppression, and clean agent systems. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Pensacola Christian College and an M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
Mr. Benjamin T. Womble is a mechanical engineer with over 34 years of experience, including 30 years with Peterson Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University with studies in noise and vibration control, HVAC, and cryogenics. He is an Infrared Training Center Level II certified Thermographer and an AABC Commissioning Group Certified Commissioning Authority, with expertise spanning HVAC design, special ventilation, plumbing, water treatment, and machine design.
Mr. Josh Desousa is a licensed Professional Engineer in both mechanical and fire protection engineering. As Lead of the Fire Protection Engineering Team, he directs the firm's fire protection design efforts, including life safety code analysis, fire suppression systems, and fire alarm system design, bringing a dual mechanical and fire protection perspective to projects from concept through construction.

We utilize the current AutoDesk AutoCAD Design Suite and Revit packages on high-performance engineering workstations configured for enterprise-scale workflows. All CAD production adheres to the National CAD Standard (NCS), ensuring deliverables are consistent, transferable, and compatible with client and contractor systems.
Our designs are developed and validated against vendor-specific documentation using a wide array of code compliance testing applications. We reference the latest industry-accepted standards on every project, ensuring deliverables meet current regulatory and performance requirements.
Each project passes through a structured, multi-phase quality control process. Our engineers apply industry-standard benchmark and testing tools at defined checkpoints throughout development, identifying and resolving issues early to maintain full deliverable integrity.
Our field team is equipped with precision diagnostic technologies that feed directly into the Peterson Engineering project network. All collected data is aggregated and applied to deliver highly accurate, project-specific results.
